Best Chili Recipe Ever

Once I am in the thick of fall recipes I just can't stop. If you are looking for a protein packed meal, that keeps you warm on these rainy fall days, and is super easy to make, I've got your answer right here.


We weren't a big chili family growing up and I'm not sure why that is. I've played with a lot of recipes and flavours and I've morphed them all into this one ultimate recipe. Every reviewer (family member) has raved about the flavours and it never fails to impress any crowd. I'm not a huge fan of spice so you can always up the ante but this one has just the slightest hint of kick to satisfy everyone's taste buds.


And of course it is dump everything in the slow cooker in the morning and enjoy the smells of the house in the evening. I've even done this one in the instant pot and it turned out just as good.



The Ultimate Chili Recipe


Makes 6-8 Servings


Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, chopped into 1in pieces

  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced

  • 1 cup zucchini, shredded

  • 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped

  • 1 to 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 can chick peas, rinsed well and drained

  • 1 can black beans, rinsed well and drained

  • 1 large can diced tomatoes, juice and all

  • 3 oz tomato paste

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 tsp hot sauce

  • 2 tbsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 8 oz tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef and sweet potatoes in large skillet until beef is mostly brown and sweet potatoes begin to soften (not cooked through)

  2. Add in the onion, zucchini, red pepper, and garlic. Stir to combine and cook until onions are translucent.

  3. Transfer beef mixture to crock pot.

  4. Add remainder of ingredients in order. Mix thoroughly.

  5. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 4 hours OR cook in the Instant Pot for 90 minutes.

A family favourite that fills a bunch of bellies and gets some nutrients in too. A classic for a cool fall lunch.
